Ramira (born 1999) is just under 15 hands, with an elegant, pompous movement that is beautiful to behold. Ramira and most of her offspring are what the Spanish call Bayo Tigre (tiger-striped bay dun). Ramira's dun offspring are shades of honey-gold.

Ramira was captured in January 2001, one of approximately 60 horses (including Santiago and Anica) rounded up at Mountain Home, and placed for adoption. About 80 of the horses rounded up in December and January were adopted out in Hurricane, Utah, and the rest were sent to satellite adoptions around the rest of the country. Ramira is an “Alpha mare,” very dominant. As a feral-born female, she continues to remain wary and alert, and is very protective of her young.

Ramira has been paired with Santiago for many years (since their adoption), usually sharing a paddock with him. They are very bonded.
She has had four foals by Santiago:

1. Chiquita (b. 2003) Gold-dun filly with very convex Iberian profile (see below)

2. Vaquero Gold (b.2004) Gold-dun studcolt

3. Isabella (b.2006) Deep mohagany bay (what Sponenberg calls "sooty bay")

4. Conquistador (b.2007) Gold-dun colt
